Blockchain in networking

Ethernet networking technology is basically dependent on a central server, it is difficult to manage and has security risks. Researchers have always worked on ways to sort this out and make a strong and resilient network that can be highly secure and smooth in functionality. There came the birth of Blockchain, the greatest innovation in the 21st century. Blockchain is a decentralised chain-based digital ledger that has numerous application. Networking through blockchain technically means that there’s no central system to control transmission or storage of data, rather it signifies that every node is responsible for maintaining the data and managing the network traffic.

Let’s see how networking through blockchain works,

Unlike the Ethernet connectivity through which networking is taking place right now, blockchain is filled with many benefits and hails to be a safer mode of networking. Firstly, there is no need for a centralised controller to manage the network and the whole process is completely automated. Further, as the data is logged in chronological , the task is even more simplified and easy to verify. Blockchain networking ensures secure connectivity as it is encrypted and protected by a unique hash.

Blockchain networking is executed in the form of network packets which is run by decentralised apps that also perform the role as security, therefore there’s no need for external hardware which consumes more energy and cost. This is why apart from enterprises such as IoT, the disruptive blockchain technology is likely to get inclined to every form of networking.

As the changes are countered by the decentralised method, the possibility of failure is eliminated, security is increased and immutability is assured throughout the process of networking, thereby safeguarding vulnerable information and communication. Although many people are not confident about cryptocurrency and the ideologies behind it, blockchain technology is likely to influence network engineering better than we imagine.

The only role of a network will be to ensure a reliable and stable connection between the blockchains and every other task is automated and eased out using a smart contract which is protected by encryption. Perhaps, blockchain is known as next internet with much secure processing, although both aren’t synonymous in functioning but their acceptance among the commoners can only be answered by time and the simplified explanations given by the researchers and tech-enthusiasts.

Basically, anyone who has memory space in their hard drive and a strong internet connection can gain access to this technology. This technology doesn’t allow monopoly and distributes the authority equally thereby increasing trust as it can be tracked, verified and is highly resistant to fraudulence or hacking. All we need to do right now is to brace ourselves to witness the disruptive technology that provides an easier way to network and connect across the world.
